Have You Ever Had a Powerful or Disturbing Dream?

From episode: Feeling the Belief

Do you need to hold onto that dream?
Do you need to hold onto that dream?

Have you ever had a powerful but maybe disturbing dream? It's important to consider our own dreams as we look at dreams from the Bible. Not because they'll relate so much or they'll have like similar imagery, but because of the way that they make us feel. Real dreams make us feel a certain way. And through that feeling, we know that we can relate to what Daniel was feeling as he had some of these dreams. I think there in the Passion Translations, it talks about how this one dream covered over a thousand years and then some because it kind of covered all of it. But just through the course of the kingdoms that are following and being brought up and the horns replacing horns, those are authorities and different authorities being replaced by other authorities. A lot of this is expected to have happened during Jesus' time. You know, over 500 years later. And then to keep going. So it's amazing how much God was revealing to Daniel to this one little dream. Sometimes our dreams can be filled with things that are meaningful. But much like Daniel, it's not like he was aware of everything that would actually happen. He just recognized the importance. He felt the importance of the dream. I don't know about you, but some dreams that I've had, I've had to get rid of them. They just didn't feel right. But they were very, very interesting. They just didn't feel right. And I got that advice from a friend of mine. He just said, you know, how did it make you feel? And I thought for a moment, I said, you know, it felt really, really important. But it also felt really, really terrible. And without being sensitive, he asked me, could you flush it? Do you feel like you could just get rid of it? He was kind of being funny. And I hadn't considered it, you know, because it did feel important. But as soon as I did, I just realized that was the end of the matter. That was the end of it. I'm done with this. It's interesting to me that Daniel has that moment there at the very end. I'll read it to you. And it says, that is all that I saw in my dream. I, Daniel, was so greatly terrified by my thoughts that my face turned pale. But I hid the vision in my heart. And other translations say that was the end of the matter. That was it. He was done with it. Sometimes that's what we need to do. We need to just be done with it.
