Local Initiatives
Selma, Alabama
In 2020, amidst the uncertainty of the pandemic, we made a deliberate decision to relocate Abundant Encounters from Atlanta to Selma, Alabama. This move was motivated by a desire to serve and support the local community, particularly in an area that has faced significant challenges. As a ministry, we're committed to building healthy relationships and fostering authentic connections that transform communities.

A Calling to Serve Selma
As we've settled into our new home, we've been struck by the rich history and resilience of Selma. This city, pivotal in the civil rights movement, has a unique story to tell. We've come to realize that our initial plans to leave were, in fact, a divine detour. We believe that God has called us to this place, to invest in the lives of its people, and to contribute to the city's revitalization.

Supporting Local Organizations
We've consistently heard from local businesses, nonprofits, and ministries about the struggles of maintaining a healthy work culture. In response, we're committed to providing our team bonding and relationship-building programs to organizations with 4 or more employees, regardless of their financial capabilities. To do this we look to find sponsors to help cover the expenses through financial contributions that provide scholarships. We're passionate about empowering local groups to build stronger, more cohesive teams, which in turn, will have a positive impact on the community.

Future Initiatives
-
We're excited about the initiatives we're developing to support Selma's growth and development. These include:
-
Programs to boost small businesses and facilitate the sale and purchase of local businesses
-
Encouraging Employee Stock Ownership Plans (ESOPs) to promote community ownership and investment
-
Mental health support and resources for individuals and organizations
-
Team bonding and relationship-building initiatives for local groups
-
Bringing together businesses, ministries, and nonprofits to foster collaboration and partnership

Selma Immersion Experiences
We also invite teams from outside Selma to come and experience the city's warmth and hospitality. We host these teams, connecting them with local ministries and civic organizations, and providing opportunities for service and community engagement. Through these experiences, we've seen teams bond quickly and form deeper relationships, as they give of themselves to those in need.

A Ministry for All
As a 501(c)(3) ministry, we're committed to serving everyone, regardless of their faith background, race, or creed. Our approach is non-judgmental and all-inclusive. We believe that healthy relationships and strong communities are essential for every individual, and we're dedicated to making a positive impact in Selma and beyond.
