FAQs
What is Abundant Encounters?
Abundant Encounters is a Christian consulting/coaching/counseling/inner healing ministry. We work with Christians and non-Christian individuals and organizations. We are a 501c3 nonprofit ministry organization with a cause to help everyone experience the value and power of a relationship with God and others to get free from hurts, hang-ups, and habits that are keeping them from healing, growing, and thriving.
How can Abundant Encounters help me in my Christian walk?
Abundant Encounters is convenient, confidential, and globally accessible to English speakers. Inner healing and Deliverance (Sozos, and Financial Sozo) is often a single session that can help you get unstuck, inspired and thriving again if things have become cloudy or dark.
What types of services does Abundant Encounters offer?
Team Bonding Sessions – Helping groups bond as a second family at work, where we spend 1/3rd of our lives.

Is Abundant Encounters confidential?
Yes. We care so much about your safety and anonymity.
However, confidentiality does break down in the event that harm to yourself, or anyone else is discussed. By law we are required to confer with authorities in these events but even in these events personal disclosures are limited to necessary information relevant to the harm scenario. This can include relevant past information, anything that is or was harmful to others.
What is an Encounter session?
As a ministry session it is a Spirit dependent ministry modality where the facilitator helps the recipient to hear confidently from the Godhead (Jesus, Father God, and Holy Spirit). The ministry prioritizes helping you connect to and receive healing from God. The “counselor” is really just a facilitator who helps establish this connection and guides the client through several tools that help a person to feel confident about what they are hearing, sensing, or feeling as it comes from God. Like many inner healing and deliverance ministries there is customizable focus on lies and truths, forgiveness, breaking curses (i.e. word courses, generational courses) and severing soul ties, but Encounter Sessions first prioritizes getting this resolution and healing directly from God. As his sheep we all get to hear from our Shepard, and this is a ministry that leverages this as a way to receive the inheritance that Jesus paid so dearly for all of us to have.
How long does a typical session last?
All of our sessions last about an hour.
Do I need to be a Christian to use your services?
No. But please understand that we utilize Christian modalities throughout our services. While we can interpret our services for a more secular audience we do not hide our Christian foundations from any clients or stakeholders.
Founder Joshua Marcengill was an atheist before coming to the Lord in 2007, and we believe that all people can benefit from the reality of God which is distinct from any religion about God. Encounter Sessions for example are available for atheist, agnostics, and Christians alike to help them experience the reality of God through Christian meditation and prayer.
What's the difference between counseling and coaching at Abundant Encounters?
Great question. The difference is that where coaching can be very directive where we customize a client plan and become both a confidant and a coach to help you to achieve your goals. Counseling is a service dedicated to helping you do the healing from within yourself.
Counseling is not directive but supportive, with the underlying belief that God has placed everything that we need within ourselves. The counselor's job is to support your growth and development so that good fruit begins to be produced in your life.
Can Abundant Encounters help me with my finances?
No and Yes. While we are not financial counselors, we do believe that God is, and that getting connected to him and removing barriers to that spiritual connection can help you with your finances in very practically and effective ways.
We do not give, loan or lend money.
What is Financial Sozo?
Financial Sozo is an Inner Healing and Deliverance Ministry for those experience being stuck in their finances or spiritual trauma related to money. Participants can experience spiritual breakthrough in the area of money.
Financial Sozo is not financial counseling and we do not provide financial advice.
How often should I book sessions with Abundant Encounters?
Team Bonding – These are custom experiences but typically each individual will do a minimum or 3 sessions + group commitments that can last a year or be ongoing.
TPRAT Coaching – 3 sessions at about one hour each are recommended.
Biblical Counseling – 3 sessions at about one hour each are recommended.
Encounter Session – usually only one session is needed. (sessions are about 1 hour long).
Financial Sozo – usually only one session is needed. (sessions are about 1 hour long).
What should I expect during my first session?
Growth and healing often look like the following seven steps in life (we help facilitate steps 5 through 7):

Step 1: a problem, challenge, crisis in some area of your life occurs.
Step 2: attempts to solve, compensate, stuff it don’t/won’t/aren’t enough to overcome it.
Step 3: a devaluing and unawareness of the importance of emotions and relational needs seems acceptable/reasonable/manly/normal
Step 4: shame and resistance to identifying and express needs creates pain/problems/odd behavior/sickness and disease/spiritual oppression/etc.
Step 5: support and grace from others that all of this is common and normal to the human experience.
Step 6: Receiving from these others the relational nutrients and opportunities to process emotions
Step 7: healing and growth.

Team Bonding – Teams are taught both one on one and as a group to understand the power of social capital and how to leverage it to create empowering relationships with each other and the work that they do. Work becomes a safe space of belonging and connection where workers become more like family memebers in a second family.
TPRAT Coaching - The first session will be focused on teaching and facilitating the understanding made possible from the results of your TPRAT assessment (20 questions), which will be sent to you after booking a session to complete before your first session. Followup sessions will have to do with customizing a plan for growing character capacities by leveraging strengths and personality assets.
Biblical Counseling – Counselor will work to create a safe non-judgmental place for the client where the client can process, be heard, heal, grow and thrive by having a supportive, empathetic mentor and confidant.
Encounter Session – Facilitator will open in prayer and begin asking you for your story in a directive way to help focus the session on the inner healing and deliverance tools that will be needed to facilitate for breakthrough and connection to Jesus, Father God and Holy Spirit. Most leave these sessions feeling lighter and deeply refreshed by the presence of God.
Financial Sozo – Facilitator will check in with the client on the homework suggestions provided preservice and utilize inner healing and deliverance tools as needed to help client get free and connected to Father God (he is our provider and so it is best to connect with him).
How do I prepare for an Abundant Encounters session?
For most of our services, instructions will be given via email after signing up. For example, many of our services involve taking the TPRAT before the session. The TPRAT will be sent to you via email, and you will need to complete the 20-question survey and email the results or a copy of the assessment back to the facilitator before the first meeting.
Team bonding services are customizable in number of people who participate, whether or not there is retreat or if initial group sessions will be held on site will be determined and things of this nature.
For inner healing, we recommend finding a way to help yourself become spiritually sensitive. This can include fasting food or drink or TV for example. Depending on the type of service there may be other request for information.
Can Abundant Encounters help me hear God's voice?
Yes. We believe that every person is a child of God and can hear his voice.
